Eduard 648391 Fw 190A-5 Engine

EDUARD’S POLICY of providing a basic or augmented kit, and then offering a series of resin and/or photo-etched (PE) metal upgrade packages is a definite winner, especially when the extras are of such high quality as its 1/48 Fw 190A-5 engine (648391).

It comprises 22 finely cast resin components and a single PE fret, which supplies ignition wires, panel fasteners and various brackets. Preparation should be minimal, as other than removal of the casting blocks, there is minimal flash present, and the clear instructions should ease assembly. Modellers will need to conduct surgery on the kit styrene and, typical of Eduard’s thoroughness, a new resin cowling ring and panels are supplied. It’s hard to determine a standout element, such is the overall quality, but the main cylinder banks and exhaust pipes are notable for their refinement.

Offering a wealth of detail, this set adds a new dimension to the kit, especially when used in conjunction with the guns set (648392), and these are available as a combined package (648408), via www.eduard.com
