Swedish Schoolhouse

de Havilland’s Vampire trainer served with the Swedish Air Force during the 1950s and 1960s, where it was known as the J 28 C, and is the subject of an Airfix re-release.

Its 1/72 T.11 includes markings for an RAF Central Flying School airframe and SE-DXU, which is an ex-Austrian Air Force machine, now flown and maintained by the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight. The latter is the focus of Alan Price’s build feature in the September 2018 issue (on sale August 2), but as a teaser, here’s a photo of the completed model.

There’s much for modellers to savour in September’s bumper 136-page issue, from a sneak peek at Rye Field Models’ new Sturmtiger (with more to follow online), to a stunning Flyhawk 1/72 M1A2 Abrams by Juanjo Domínguez Calvo, and 1/72 scale drawings of the Lockheed Ventura by Aviaeology’s Terry Higgins.
