This is Eduard’s seventh 1/72 Eindecker, and provides new decals with the familiar single styrene runner.
Many of the firm’s smaller offerings are ideal for beginners, due to their relatively low parts count and ease of construction, and this is true with the E.III, with just 32 beautifully moulded components. It lives up to its ‘Weekend’ legend, as this could easily be built over one or two days. Despite this, the interior is busy, with integrally moulded framework, accurate ‘basket’ seat and representation of the control rod housing. The pilot’s harness is replicated in decal form, and these appear thick enough to be able to fold/drape them convincingly. Rigging diagrams are included for the more skilled modeller to attempt.
Two schemes are supplied:
Fokker E.III, 246/16, Oberleutnant M Immelmann, KeK Douai, France, June 1916
Fokker A.III, 03.42, Hauptmann M Bernáth, Flik 4, Aisovizza, Austria-Hungary, February 1916
