Early on Saturday September 29, 2018, the Newark Air Museum’s Phantom FGR.2 cockpit XV490 was loaded for a temporary off-site deployment.
This exhibit will be displayed on the British Phantom Aviation Group stand at the re-arranged North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Festival; an event that should have taken place in July this year at Skydive Hibaldstow, but was cancelled. The cockpit will return to Newark Air Museum later this week.
In other news, the museum will hold its latest charity fund-raising Indoor Aeroboot/Aerojumble Sale on Saturday, October 13.
Proceeds will be used to support the development of facilities at its Gateway Aviation Site, which is located in eastern Nottinghamshire, close to the Lincolnshire border. Forty-eight tables, featuring a host of different sellers from around the UK, will be arranged among the aircraft in Display Hangar 2, offering a varied selection of aviation and avionic items including books, paintings, prints, DVDs, plastic kits, die-cast models, clothing, radio equipment and aircraft parts.
Buyers/visitors will be able to access the museum site at a special discounted admission price of just £4.50 per person. Museum opening times will be 9am to 5pm, with the sale taking place between 9am and 2pm hours; to get the best bargains we suggest that you get there early.
