Heat-seeking Bugs

Eduard has a growing reputation for the quality of its weapons accessories, and the AA-8 Aphid set is no exception.

It comprises ten beautifully cast resin components, offering four missiles, four APU 60 single-rail and two APU 60II twin-missile launchers, plus a photo-etched brass fret, which supplies nozzle detail (and includes four spares). Assembly and painting should be simplicity itself, but the real surprise is the decal sheet, offering a host of stencils and warning notes for the Aphids and launchers; many are tiny, and will require careful handling and application.

While these would be perfect for Eduard’s recent 1/72 MiG-21s, they are suitable for most Soviet fighter/fighter-bomber platforms, including the MiG-23/27 Flogger, MiG-25 Foxbat, MiG-31 Foxhound, MiG-29 Fulcrum and SU-22 Fitter, Su-24 Fencer, Su-25 Frogfoot and Su-27 Flanker.
